INFO PAGE - FIRST AVENUE INSTITUTE GIRLS WINTER CAMP 2017

Investment Management Company First Avenue, as part of its corporate social responsibility programme, is addressing the shortage of young black women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). This is done by grooming learners in a year-long programme that starts with the annual Girls Winter Camp.

To be selected to participate in the intensive week-long, live-in winter camp in the July school holidays, the scholar must be hard working, disciplined, have excellent grades in mathematics and science and a desire to follow a STEM-related career path.

The FAI Girls Winter Camp is packed with exciting high tech activities designed to create an interest in careers in STEM-related fields among teenage girls, the ongoing Saturday morning programme will equip girls with skills they will need as science and engineering undergraduates.

As just one part of the multi-faceted science, technology and engineering experience, Girls on the Winter Camp build their own desktop scale robots then program them to complete a maze challenge!

If you have attended a First Avenue Institute Girls Winter Camp in the past, and would like to attend this year's camp to help us train the new girls, please click on this link and download and complete and return the form.
